Daily Bible Reading Tool?

I would love to be able to have the Bible Reading Tool.

I would also love to be able to highlight and leave personal notes.

Was there any bible reading

Was there any bible reading tool you meant in particular? I can easily produce a bible reading planner which would act as a dictionary, but have a date selector. However, the ability to create new reading planners and to mark which items have been read would require adding new functionality.

Personal notes should be able to be recorded in 0.4, using the verse list/tagging feature.

Tagging vs Personal Notes

Note that tagging / passage lists and personal notes are different though related concepts. I plan to investigate integrating them more closely for later releases.

Some rough notes on my ideas for it from a few months ago are at http://jonmmorgan.googlepages.com/bpbible. Please don't trust the preview, though, since it is highly unlikely that lists created with it will be supported by 0.4.

The passage list concept will allow you to create lists that are matched to verse ranges and ordered and have comments. This means you are able to have notes along the lines of the following:

My Topic
General comments about my topic.


Genesis 3: 7 - 9 Some comment on this passage.
Genesis 5:2 More comments on this passage.
The comments can go over multiple lines, but must be associated with one passage.
Psalms 33:2 Another passage.
Exodus 29:7 Yet another passage.

I think this structure is useful for a number of different kinds of notes, but it is not going to be a general notes structure for taking any arbitrary notes. I would like it to integrate with Personal Commentary style notes better in ways that I am still considering, but none of these will make 0.4.

Daily Bible Reading - Check off progress

I meant the daily Bible reading plan with a date selector, as well as having the ability to check off your progress.

Daily Bible Readings and Checking off progress

There is support for including a daily reading planner with a calendar, and I think there are a couple about somewhere, but checking off progress is not implemented.

Reading calendar

Hi
First, thanks for a great program.

Jon, I wasn't sure from the previous comment..That there is currently calendar capability within BPBible?

I was looking for a way to incorporate an ics calendar for a reading plan e.g. from ESV, and be able to click the references to bring up the readings for the day?

Is this capability present, planned or possible

Currently daily devotionals

Currently daily devotionals are displayed in the dictionary window, and allow selecting of dates. These are used to implement reading planners.

However, currently there is no import feature, but it looks like it would be possible and wouldn't be a bad idea to implement (but I probably won't have time for a while).

Checking off progress

Checking off progress is something that I'm very interested in having too, so it will probably happen. However, it is very unlikely to happen till 0.5, which will not be for a while.

If you need a good bible

If you need a good bible tools, use Bible E-Sword. It's the best thing around. It has checking off progress feature too.

Just use the old fashion pen and paper :)
