Branding BPBible with our Mozambique Bible project info

Hey guys,

We're about ready to create our MozamBible based on BPBible. It will have several Mozambican languages plus two in English and two in Portuguese.

I'm wondering about "branding." We'd like it to have the "MoçamBíblia" name on the splash screen and at the top of the application window. What are your thoughts on that. I considered just adding an extra rectangle to the bottom of the splash screen image with our name.

Once we have it working I'm hoping to give away about 500 copies in Mozambican Bible colleges so if you have a rich uncle let me know.

P.S. Daniel Couto provided the Portuguese localization so we're pretty happy about that!

BPBible Branding

I haven't talked to Ben about it, so this is just my opinion. Firstly, you are permitted to make any changes to the source that you like, and that includes branding changes. However, we would prefer to be at least associated with any use of BPBible software. For example, the PortableApps BPBible has a completely different splash screen from the standard, which mentions both PortableApps and BPBible, which seems reasonable, though I think the splashscreen on "official" builds looks a lot nicer (and I remember Ben wasn't very happy about having a different splashscreen there).

Another thing to bear in mind is that BPBible is mentioned in quite a few places in general usage, like "BPBible will now restart quickly" (and Ben has had as a translation guideline that it should be translated "BPBible"). I would be afraid that this would be confusing if the name BPBible is too hidden elsewhere, and we would certainly prefer not to have the name changed everywhere.

I think it's certainly reasonable to add the name to the splashscreen and the about dialog. I'm not so sure about replacing the name (in the main title bar you could have something MoçamBíblia / BPBible, but that's fairly verbose). However, at the end of the day it's up to you what you do. I make this software more to be used and to be useful than I make it so the BPBible name can give me pride.

This sounds reasonable. I

This sounds reasonable. I certainly wouldn't remove BPBible references but maybe add a strip to the bottom of the splash. In Mozambique we will probably market it as the MoçamBíblia. I'm not sure anyone would understand "BPBible" since it's unpronounceable. :)

At this stage we probably won't change anything. We'll be packaging modules with the PortableApp and having it localized in Portuguese by default. Down the road we might want to have the name show up here and there.

Thanks.
